Yes, we are FINE!

Soooo…

We heard from all of our helpful friends about the Covid status change requirements for travelers abroad within a few hours.  We were delighted for everyone else stuck abroad of course, but really?   Now?  Why couldn’t it have been last week and saved us 11 days, a billion dollars and a whole bunch of angst?

We tried to change our airline tickets to fly out earlier, with no success.*  The United agent we spoke with offered to book us through Mallorca on an unspecified airline with unspecified cabin class, then to Frankfurt and Chicago with impossible connections for a mere $5000 additional fee.  She was admittedly sheepish when she told us the price and agreed it wasn’t a good idea.  However, after we hung up, we found that while United had us still confirmed with Lufthansa on our original flights, Lufthansa now has us going to Mallorca and then to Newark on a flight that doesn’t seem to exist anywhere except on our itinerary.  When we ( I keep saying “we”, actually Dick did all of the work!) called back United said sorry, call Lufthansa.  Lufthansa said too many callers, call again later.  Enough!  We’ll deal with it tomorrow, and we’ll be FINE!!

So we are going to ride out the rest of the vacation here in Paradise, and enjoy ourselves.  There is lots to explore here, and after a few more days- so we can be sure we don’t pass anything along, we will be seeing our dear friends the Rowley’s who live here in Spain.  And we will probably never have the opportunity for a Mediterranean vacation again.  So we are FINE!

*thankfully, our friends Jim and Barb were able to rebook their tickets and get out on the 16th.  So they really are fine, and we are thankful with them!

Aleta is a beautiful town with a very old section that was fun to explore.  Of course it requires lots of climbing….
