SANTIAGO!!!

Under 20k, HOORAY!

The path meandered through the tiny town of Lavacolla, which literally means “wash private parts”.  Apparently pilgrims bathed infrequently - or never, so would stop at this little town with a convenient stream to clean up before presenting themselves at the Cathedral.  Having showered this morning, we just took a picture.

We passed through an area of beautiful homes, with this interesting sign on the fence…we haven’t seen much litter or vanadalism, but there are always a few who spoil things…

Only 5 k to go!!

Walking through the streets of Santiago towards the Cathedral.  The sidewalk shells mark the way.

And we are here!!!  Over 200 miles…and worth it!

We headed to the pilgrim office to get our Compostela.  Some wonderful woman stopped us as we headed in, and gave us some advice on where to go, and somehow we were able to get ours within the hour, instead of the hours some folks wait.

A quick walk through the Cathedral, which is breathtaking! we found our hotel just a short distance away, and then we found a great place for lunch in the square and settled in with great relief.  We can hardly believe we are here!

We connected again with our young honeymooners and had a delightful lunch.

Then a rest and some foot adjustments - boy, do our shoes stink!

We enjoyed dinner in the square and then a wonderful concert by the Santiago Municipal Orchestra in the Cathedral Square.

And we are here!
Got so excited, I forgot to record my steps, but who cares?  My Apple Watch is so proud of me, but is in for a rude awakening when I get back…
So thankful for all your prayers, encouragement and support - to bed!
