Woke up to a beautiful day. We had all pretty much decided to take a taxi to Los Arcos this morning, but Jim decided to walk it. He texted us a few times along the way, we were quite reassured that he only had about 5 miles, 5 kilometers and 5ft and 5 inches to cover today. We have really enjoyed his dry humor! Actually he enjoyed his solitary walk, and made excellent time - easier to keep moving when you only have one shoe to adjust, one meal to order, one water bag to fill and two poles! He also was able to offer help to a woman who fell and apparently broke her arm, he stayed with her while they waited for the ambulance. Grateful for his medical knowledge and skill!
Jim casts a long shadow! |
The rest of us took the taxi to to Logronos, and arrived about noon at our beautiful hotel. We were in the old city, and it, like all the other cities we have visited, was charming, with a quiet center square. We checked in, and then went to get a little lunch. Lu napped and rested, that new knee just needs a break.

Then we all relaxed, nothing is open until 7pm any way, it was a good day for a break. Jim arrived about 2 pm and had time for a rest as well.
Then it was time for great tapas! Logroño is known for their tapas, and we (especially the foodies, Barb and Dick) were eager to take full advantage of it. The small plates are called “pinchos” here, and most tapas bars specialize in only one item or type of food, so you move along the street and make frequent stops to take advantage of the variety. We started with pork cheeks, and then moved on to mushrooms. And then decided to get more adventurous.
Yes, that is an octopus in the case… |
And yes, Dick, Barb and Jim sampled it. Not me !
Typical spot, pigs ears and snout were some of the special dishes here! |
the tripe go down… |
Dick, Ron and Lu eating tripe ( yes,I had some too) |
Jim and Barb NOT eating tripe (Barb did try it) |
The street was jammed! So much fun…
And a little music to keep it interesting. ( She really wasn’t very good, but we tipped her anyway).
Saw Daniel one last time, Lu and Ron bought Daniel and Hannah gelato, and said goodbye. The gelato was yummy! Then off to bed, in really comfortable beds. A good day.
So glad Jim was there to help the woman with the broken arm! The tapas adventure sounds wonderful!
